Illuminating the Way of Return
01 Our Philosophy
Every human being is journeying back to God.
The Compulsory Return
al-rujūʿ al-iḍṭirārī
“To Allah is your return…”Surah Hud 11:4
The natural, inevitable passage of existence, drawing all creation back to its Origin.
The Voluntary Return
al-rujūʿ al-ikhtiyārī
“O tranquil soul, return to your Lord…”Surah al-Fajr 89:27–28
The conscious path of self-knowledge, spiritual wayfaring (Suluk), and surrender — chosen willingly and lovingly before the transition of decree.
One return is inevitable. The other is intentional.
One takes place at the end of life. The other gives life its direction.
Reditio harmonises these two paths — cultivating awareness, gratitude, and stewardship, so we may return willingly before we are returned.
02 Practical Wisdom
Classical Muslim thinkers understood practical wisdom as the integrated education of the self, the household, and society. This framework became an influential strand of ethical learning across the Muslim world, receiving particularly important expression in the Persianate and Ottoman traditions.
Reditio renews the first two of these domains—the foundations from which the wider transformation of society begins.
Inner Order
The knowledge, cultivation, and wise governance of the self—drawing upon Islamic psychology, spiritual formation, and the tradition of sulūk.
Lived Wisdom
The wise ordering of family, relationships, home, work, community, and wealth—bringing inner understanding into the realities of everyday life.
These were never separate subjects. Reditio explores the meeting point where return becomes a way of being.
Inner order.Lived wisdom.A conscious return.

05 About Reditio
Reditio Institute grew from Dr Yusuf Jha’s two decades of engagement with the Islamic intellectual and spiritual tradition—first through Islamic finance, and then through Islamic psychology.
The First Decade
Among the early cohorts to qualify as an AAOIFI Certified Shari’ah Adviser and Auditor (CSAA).
For a decade, he worked alongside leading Sharīʿah scholars in Islamic finance and was among the early cohorts to qualify as an AAOIFI Certified Shari’ah Adviser and Auditor (CSAA). Yet working within the industry also exposed a growing divide: an ethical vision rooted in justice, trusteeship, and mutual interconnection was increasingly being reduced to formal compliance and absorbed into systems at odds with its deeper purpose.
The Turning Point
In the Iḥyāʾ ʿUlūm al-Dīn, Imam al-Ghazālī places money within the Book of Patience and Thankfulness.
Seeking to understand what had been lost drew him deeper into the Islamic tradition. In Iḥyāʾ ʿUlūm al-Dīn (The Revival of the Religious Sciences), Imam al-Ghazālī situates a profound discussion of money within the Book of Patience and Thankfulness. Money is a Divine blessing, created to facilitate exchange rather than become an end in itself; using it rightly is shukr—gratitude.
That such an account appears within a work devoted to spiritual reformation was itself revealing.
The Second Decade
Doctoral research on Ibn ʿAṭāʾ Allāh’s al-Ḥikam; lecturer at Cambridge Muslim College.
This insight opened a further decade devoted to Islamic psychology, combining contemporary Islamic psychological thought, the classical science of sulūk, and direct study under masters of the Islamic spiritual tradition.
Dr Jha’s doctoral research explored Ibn ʿAṭāʾ Allāh’s al-Ḥikam as a living framework for spiritual wayfaring. He now works as an accredited spiritual coach and counsellor and lectures at Cambridge Muslim College, where he teaches within the Diploma in Islamic Psychology—exploring how the self, fiṭrah, relationships, and spiritual formation unfold across the human lifespan.
Finance concerns not only the validity of transactions, but the formation of the self.
Reditio Institute stands at the meeting point of these two decades
Where inner order becomes lived wisdom, and integrated knowledge becomes a way of return.
